The running joke religion built around James Parry, known as Kibo, whose habit of searching the entire incoming feed for mentions of his name and then replying made him a Usenet celebrity in the early 1990s. The group alt.religion.kibology mixed parody, wordplay, and dense in-jokes. It is remembered as a group whose subject was its own culture rather than any outside topic.
