Retention

Also known as: retention period

The number of days a server keeps articles available before they age out of the spool. Figures above 5,000 days are common, but they are measured from the date the operator started archiving, so they describe the oldest article held rather than a guarantee that everything from that period survives. Completion rate determines whether an old download actually finishes.
