Also known as: plan tier, account tier
One of several plan levels a provider sells, separated by connection count, speed cap, SSL availability, and sometimes retention or access to text groups only. Cheaper tiers exist to fill spare capacity rather than to be equivalent products, so a low-cost plan may carry the same spool with half the connections. Tier differences are enforced at the server, not in the client.
