B News

Also known as: B-News

The second-generation news implementation, released in 1981 by Mark Horton and later maintained by Rick Adams. It introduced the header format that RFC 850 and then RFC 1036 standardized, handled far larger site counts than A News, and carried Usenet through the Great Renaming. C News and then INN displaced it across the late 1980s and 1990s, and no site runs it today.
