C News

Also known as: C-News

A rewrite of the news transport released in 1987 by Geoff Collyer and Henry Spencer at the University of Toronto, aimed at the per-article processing cost that was choking B News sites. It handled articles in batches with much less overhead, which mattered when feeds arrived over UUCP dial-up. INN, designed around continuous NNTP connections instead, superseded it during the 1990s.
