Also known as: thread necromancy, gravedigging
Replying to a thread dormant for months or years, usually after finding the old article through an archive or search result. It confuses readers whose newsreader shows the revived thread as current and answers questions the original poster stopped caring about long ago. The References header still threads the reply correctly, which is why an ancient subject suddenly reappears at the top of a group.
