Plonk

Also known as: *plonk*

Posted as a one-word reply, the onomatopoeia for the sound of a killfiled user landing at the bottom of the bit bucket. Announcing a plonk told the group that further articles from that person would go unread, ending the exchange publicly. The convention dates from the late 1980s and survives as internet slang well beyond Usenet, still meaning to filter someone out.
