Server infrastructure and spool hosted in the United States. Round-trip times are lower for North American subscribers, which matters more for the many small requests a newsreader makes than for raw throughput. Operators in different regions maintain independent spools, so completion for a given release can differ between a US backbone and one hosted elsewhere.
