The purchase model behind block accounts: a one-time payment for a set volume of data, drawn down as articles are fetched and with no recurring charge. Per-gigabyte pricing falls as block size rises, so a 1 TB block costs far less per gigabyte than a 25 GB one. Blocks are the usual way to keep a second backbone available without a second subscription.
